How our draws work

Our weekly draws use Fry Comps software to select one ticket from every eligible entry. The result is chosen on our server before the onscreen reveal begins.

Last updated: 21 October 2026
The animation does not pick the winner. It presents a result that has already been selected and saved by the secure server-side draw process.

1. Entries close

Each paid competition has a published closing time and scheduled draw time before entry opens. The draw is scheduled after closing and no more than seven days later, and a real draw cannot be started before entries close. Test tickets are excluded.

2. Eligible tickets are combined

Valid account tickets and accepted free postal tickets are counted together. Each ticket occupies one position in the same draw pool, regardless of how it was obtained.

The competition page shows the maximum number of tickets and the current allocated count. The live draw displays the final number of eligible tickets used for that draw.

3. The server selects one position

Our selector runs on the Fry Comps server. It uses the cryptographic random-number function randomInt from Node.js to select one whole-number position from the eligible pool. Each eligible ticket position has the same chance of selection.

We do not use the spinning names, the presenter, or a browser animation to choose the winner. We also do not use Math.random for a real competition draw.

4. The result is saved first

The selected ticket, draw time and winner record are saved before the reveal animation starts. If the draw studio is reopened after a result has been recorded, it loads that stored result instead of intentionally selecting another winner.

5. We stream and publish the result

We plan to stream weekly draws on our public channels. After the recording has been added and the result verified, the winning ticket, draw time and recording are published in our Draw History.

Winner information is reduced for privacy. We do not publish private contact details or the complete entrant list.

Our own selector

The selector is built into Fry Comps. We publish this explanation so entrants can understand the method, but we do not publish private source code or security credentials that could help someone attack or manipulate the service.

We retain the draw result and supporting records. We will not describe the selector as independently certified unless an appropriate independent review has taken place.

Fry Jackpot draws

The Fry Jackpot uses a separate automated trigger and selection process described in the Terms and Conditions. The chest shown after checkout is only a result animation and cannot change whether an entry won.
